Dr. Marano is very knowledgeable in many non-surgical methods for healing and maintaining a healthy body. Through associations with local specialty providers in disciplines such as exercise and fitness, physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation, and alternative health he will assist a patient in finding most appropriate care. Dr. Marano offers patients multiple options and procedures to manage pain due to many different factors. Procedures include injections, surgery, pain pumps, and spinal cord stimulators to help alleviate pain. Dr. Marano offers the appropriate spinal surgery procedure based on the patient's unique situation, the condition of their spine, and other medical conditions. He is a co-founder of the neurosurgical program at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical that began in 1986 and continues to provide leadership to help the program be recognized for providing the highest level of quality based help it become recognized as a providing one of the highest levels of quality. Outcome quality measurements for spinal fusion rank higher than many hospitals throughout Idaho and Utah. Patient outcome information based on predicted and actual major complications was formulated by HealthGrades and was compared to other hospitals in the region. Peripheral Nerves The neurological exam provides and accurate assessment of the nerves and muscles impacting pain associated with hand, arm, foot and other body parts. Electromyography and EMG involves testing the electrical activity of muscles. Often, EMG testing is performed with another test that measures the conducting function of nerves. This is called a nerve conduction study. Both tests are generally performed during the same office visit by other local specialists.
